The Lafourche Parish Court Calendar
The 17th Judicial District Court posts several documents side by side. Its site links to Court Date Finder and a 2026 criminal calendar for all divisions. Duty-judge schedules, civil and criminal duty material, a holiday schedule, and video-conference information are posted as well. Lafourche's five elected divisions keep their own docket and calendar practices. Under the court's local rules, each division must publish next year's calendar by September 1. That document covers criminal jury trials, criminal pretrial conferences, and misdemeanor trial dates.
A calendar and a case event do different jobs. One lists a division's planned dates. Court Date Finder gives you a single scheduled setting for a particular case. Both can be amended later. When a live Lafourche setting matters, keep the case or suit number close. Then call the court's listed contact information.
Lafourche Parish Court Date Finder
Court Date Finder is the ClerkConnect event lookup for Lafourche. It searches by last name first. Add a first name or date of birth to narrow the field. The search button stays disabled until the last-name box holds more than one character. You cannot browse a full division calendar here. The public template offers no court, division, event-date, or calendar selectors.
Type a common surname and the tool warns you. It displays no more than 100 records for a broad result. Narrow the name with detail, then match the event to the case or suit number. A date result is not a complete history. It never replaces the court's current instruction. The official Court Date Finder page shows the working search form.

With controls built around a name, a narrow search beats any attempt to scan every Lafourche court event.
How to Find Your Court Date
Use every channel that exists when a Lafourche date matters. Court Date Finder is the online route. The 17th JDC pages publish calendars and division information. The clerk's public counter and the assigned division confirm settings in person, and civil and criminal docket-information numbers work by phone. A city, Justice of the Peace, mayor's, or municipal matter is different. Take that one to the issuing court.
- Read the court, case or suit number, and division on the ticket, summons, or earlier court paper.
- Search Court Date Finder by last name and narrow the result when needed.
- Record the case or suit number, event date and time, courtroom, judge, and hearing type.
- Check the 17th JDC calendar or division page for current court scheduling material.
- Call civil docket information at (985) 447-5550 or criminal docket information at (985) 447-5512, or visit the Clerk or assigned court to confirm.
Need more than a setting? A Lafourche Parish case search goes past the court date. It routes civil and criminal results through the right ClerkConnect inquiry.
Lafourche Parish 2026 Calendar Notices
The court's website is the home for calendar PDFs and duty rotations. Holiday information and video-conference material are posted there too. Its 2026 calendar is genuinely useful for planned criminal terms. But treat it as a plan, not a promise. Local rules allow amendments. A continuance, a court order, a division practice, or a later circumstance can move an event. That can happen after a calendar document was posted.
For a same-day or high-stakes appearance, pair the Court Date Finder result with direct confirmation. Do it by phone or in person. Lafourche sets no single automatic continuance process that covers every matter. So never assume an absent result or an older calendar date authorizes skipping court. The 17th JDC contact page lists civil and criminal docket routing. Use it for exactly that kind of call.

When online information runs thin, the court's published contacts give you a direct fallback for confirming a setting.
Reading a Court Setting
An event record in Court Date Finder can display plenty of detail. Fields include the date and time, case or suit number, Type, Name, date of birth, civil Caption, Court Room, Judge, and Hearing Type. Read Type and Hearing Type carefully. They are not automatically interchangeable. One can identify an event category while the other describes the proceeding. Court Room marks the expected setting location. The Judge field names the officer shown in the event record.
Remember what a setting is. It shows a scheduled proceeding and nothing more. It does not prove the matter was heard, completed, dismissed, or adjudicated. Carry the case or suit number when you call the division or Clerk. The same name can appear in more than one Lafourche case.
| Date and time | The scheduled event time, not a disposition. |
|---|---|
| Case or Suit# | The identifier needed for follow-up with the division or Clerk. |
| Type | An event category in the Court Date Finder record. |
| Hearing Type | The proceeding description shown for the setting. |
| Court Room | The expected hearing location. |
| Judge | The judicial officer displayed with that event. |
Lafourche Parish Duty Judge Roles
Duty assignments and division control are two different things under the 17th JDC local rules. A civil duty judge rotates biweekly. That judge may act in the circumstances assigned by Code of Civil Procedure art. 253.3. In criminal matters, the duty judge handles daily arraignments and magistrate hearings and sets bonds. Do not assume that judge has authority over every pleading or order belonging to another division.
Remote appearances are discretionary too. The rules allow audio-visual appearances for authorized proceedings. Those include a 72-hour hearing, initial bond, pretrial motion, motion hearing, arraignment, post-conviction matter, or another authorized event. Check the court's current video-conference material and the assigned division before counting on a remote option. The 17th JDC court summary shows the court's jurisdiction and division structure.

Jurisdiction and division structure explain the caution. Read any event label together with its assigned case and division.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
No single Lafourche rule governs every reset, continuance, and cancellation. Each division of the 17th JDC handles its own settings. A court date can move through a division action, a court order, or a later amendment to the calendar. Before assuming anything, look at the current event entry for the case. Keep the case number handy. Then reach the assigned division, your lawyer, or the docket office.
Never carry one local court's rule into another courtroom. Golden Meadow's municipal court, for instance, requires an appearance. Only then will it grant an extension or a payment plan. That rule binds only the town court. It says nothing about a 17th JDC criminal or civil setting. The court named on your case paperwork tells you which door to knock on.
Lafourche Parish Division Confirmation
The 17th JDC runs divisions A through E, split between Thibodaux-area and Raceland locations. A countywide ClerkConnect search can surface the case. The setting details, though, come from the division assignment, the courtroom, and the event record itself. When a Lafourche Parish calendar entry reads confusingly, give the court office two things: the division and the case number. That pair usually unlocks the rest.
One more wrinkle matters for in-person visits. The Clerk's notice confirms that the main Thibodaux office moved back to 303 West Third Street, with the Maronge Street side now serving as the main entrance. Treat that as a Clerk access detail only. It does not mean every division hearing happens there. Check the courtroom listed on the court event before you drive anywhere.
The Clerk's own office-move notice is the authority behind the entrance direction.

The notice covers Clerk services. For hearing locations, the Court Date Finder room field shows the expected setting.
What To Do If You Miss a Setting
Skipping a Lafourche court date can carry real consequences, and each case decides its own. An online entry that is missing or stale never justifies ignoring a summons. It does not excuse a citation or order either. Pull up the current event record. Keep the case or suit number close. Then contact the assigned division or docket-information line right away. If a legal obligation or a pending charge is involved, get legal advice before guessing at next steps.
Use the official court or Clerk to confirm the current status of a missed setting. Do not rely on an old calendar PDF, a broad name search, or a result that lacks the case number.
Lafourche Parish Court Date Contacts
For 17th JDC matters, call civil docket information at (985) 447-5550 and criminal docket information at (985) 447-5512. The Lafourche Parish Clerk's main line is (985) 447-4841. Those numbers cover district court work. A City Court, Justice of the Peace, municipal, or mayor's-court setting must be confirmed with the court that issued it.
Thibodaux City Court is best handled by calling the court directly, since it publishes no online docket search. Golden Meadow keeps its own municipal-court schedule and rules. Don't assume the parish-level calendar tools mirror what those lower courts post. They simply cover different courts.
Lafourche Parish Court Calendar Sources
Three official sources anchor any Lafourche Parish docket check: the 17th JDC court site for current calendars and duty notices, the 17th JDC contact page for civil and criminal docket routing, and the Lafourche Clerk office notice for current Clerk access details. These pages can change without warning, so confirm your specific setting with the court or the Clerk before relying on what you read.
